Code 82: Anticipation – Early Payment of Invoice

2 min read

What is Deduction Code 82?

Code 82s are Accounts Receivable claims that arise when a supplier is participating in Walmart’s early payment program. Because Walmart is paying an invoice (or invoices) early, they issue a deduction for the interest lost by releasing those funds early.

Because 82s are typically sent from Walmart’s Accounts Receivable team, you would need to locate the claim in the High Radius portal to see backup information and to dispute it.

How to Prevent Valid Code 82s

Code 82s are expected when participating in Walmart’s early payment program. There is little to be done to prevent valid 82s.

Can Code 82s be Disputed?

There are only a couple scenarios where you might be able to dispute a code 82:

  1. You receive a code 82 even though you are not participating in Walmart’s early payment program
  2. You are participating in Walmart’s early payment program, but the backup information for a code 82 references invoices that were not paid early.

How to Dispute Invalid Code 82s

Since code 82s are AR claims, you would find backup and submit disputes in the High Radius portal.

Supporting documentation:

  • Description stating that you are not participating in the early payment program

OR

  • Proof that the invoices in question were not paid early
