Ship Point Management is a newer feature in Supplier One where you can manage shipping locations, lead times, calendars and closures more effectively.

Suppliers previously used ASPEN, Walmart’s old system, to manage ship points and logistics. Through ASPEN, suppliers could update shipping locations, track agreements and manage changes in their supply chain. The transition to Ship Point Management in Supplier One combines all these functions into one more user friendly and operationally efficient interface.

Managing Ship Points

When you log into Supplier One, click on “Ship Point Management” in the left navigation menu.

Note: ASPEN is still an option for ship points. There has just been a hint that the app will be transitioned to Supplier One under Ship Point Management, similar to how Item 360 was transitioned to Items and Inventory in Supplier One. What this means is not all suppliers may have access yet but can definitely expect the transition in the future.

Key Components of Ship Point Management

Viewing and Editing Ship Points

Suppliers can view and edit existing ship points in the Ship Points tab. This gives them a list of all locations tied to a specific Supplier ID. To edit a ship point, click Edit in the Actions column. From there they can update:

  • Ship point name
  • Physical address
  • Associated Walmart Distribution Centers (DCs)

Regularly reviewing and updating ship points ensures accuracy so shipping schedules and purchase orders are reliable.

Creating a New Ship Point

To add a new shipping location, suppliers can initiate the process by clicking Create New and selecting Ship point

  • During creation, it is necessary to provide detailed business information, such as:
  • A clear, descriptive ship point name
  • Identification of the shipment type (Collect or Prepaid)
  • Accurate physical address information
  • Alignment of associated Walmart DCs via the Add Destinations or Ship-Point Swap tools

Realigning DCs to Ship Points

Occasionally, it becomes necessary to shift shipping responsibilities between different ship points. The Ship-Point Swap feature makes this easy to:

  • Select the ship point and navigate to Associated Walmart Locations
  • Click Ship-Point Swap and follow the prompts to select the new ship point and destinations to realign.

Once you’ve entered and reviewed all the details, click Review and Submit. Note that it may take up to 90 days for Walmart to approve the new ship point.

Best Practices for Ship Point Management

If you want to keep your deliveries on track and meet Walmart’s On Time In Full (OTIF) standards, managing your ship points in Supplier One is key. OTIF is how Walmart measures if you’re delivering the right products, in the right quantities, at the right time. If your shipping info – like addresses, lead times, or warehouse schedules – is out of date or incorrect, it can cause delays, missed deliveries, and fines. To avoid disruptions, suppliers should also plan ahead by entering any upcoming warehouse closures or reduced operations into Supplier One. This helps Walmart adjust orders in advance and keeps your OTIF score in good shape. It’s also a good idea to notify Walmart when making changes to shipping lanes or warehouse schedules, so their teams can stay in sync with your operations. Lastly, make sure your team knows how to use the Ship Point Management tools—it keeps things running smoothly and ensures your data stays accurate. By staying proactive and communicating clearly, you can reduce errors, avoid fines, and build a better partnership with Walmart.
